So, after discussing the importance of addressing and combating mental health issues in Tuesday’s post, a new text service has been in the news recently…and it’s so great!
Chat Health is a text messaging service for 11-19 year olds that allows young people to discuss their health concerns in confidence. As we all know, it can be difficult to talk about your worries with someone face-to-face, especially if you don’t know them too well, but with this new service nobody has to worry about that!
Instead of persuading your more confident friend to go to the school nurse for you, now you can just text them.
With a small team of trained school nurses, they’ll be able to answer your every concern – from bullying to mental health, and even concerns about healthy eating or smoking.
Though there is no doubt that the health services in Britain aren’t doing too great at the moment, particularly in terms of funding, this has been rolled out to all secondary schools across Northumberland and North Tyneside…how cool is that?!
So, if you’re living in the North East and want some advice then you know where to look!
P.S. If anyone has tried the service, please let me know – I would love to know if it’s as great in practice as it seems!
Don’t forget to follow, with a new post every day at 6pm during the week, and 1pm on a weekend!
