If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous this Pancake Day, and you want to impress, why don’t you try making some American-style pancakes? They’re super delicious and make for a great Instagram, so what are you waiting for?
There are a tonne of different recipes available online, but the one I’ve gone for is this one; you don’t need many ingredients, it’s quick to make, and most importantly it’s yummy!
Ingredients (for 12 pancakes):
- 250ml milk
- 125g plain flour
- 1 medium egg
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
Simply combine all of the ingredients, pour into a non-stick frying pan and get cooking! All it needs is about 4/5 minutes in total per pancake (make sure to flip sides halfway through) – but keep checking so it doesn’t burn!
TOP TIP: In order to get perfectly round pancakes with no fuss, purchase a silicone mould like this one. They’re really cheap, and they’ll make your pancakes look even better! If you don’t have time for that, use a ladle to pour your mixture, pouring slowly into the middle of the pan. Practice makes perfect!
Then, choose your toppings and tuck in!
But don’t worry – if that’s a bit too adventurous for you, my student-friendly pancake recipe will be up at 6pm tonight!
