Review: The Anxiety Solution

If you suffer from anxiety, or spend your life overthinking and worrying about problems that you know really shouldn’t be getting you down, give The Anxiety Solution: A Quieter Mind, A Calmer You a read.

This is a book that every female needs to read, whether you’re a teenager or a grandmother. If you’re struggling with Uni stress, or you’re worried about your future, this book will provide you with some simple tips to change your habits, and help you to be a much happier person.

What’s so good about it?

As someone who not only suffers from anxiety but is also a therapist, Chloe Brotheridge is all clued up on how to beat your anxious thoughts. Using a mix of the latest scientific research, and personal experience, The Anxiety Solution is a great guide.

One of my favourite parts of this book is Chapter 9, The Anxiety Solution Toolkit. You can fill in this section, bit by bit, tracking your progress. This section includes plenty of clever techniques to combat your anxiety, such as this one.

By noting down some common triggers, you’ll soon be able to figure out what causes your anxiety and what steps can be put in place to avoid feeling that way again.

As well as this, the rest of the book is filled with quick and easy practices, such as writing down all of your worries, or rehearsing your day. Before you know it, you’ll be practising these exercises regularly, and you might just find something that works well for you.

What are its downfalls?

Although this book is clearly aimed at women, it is slightly disappointing that the advice isn’t aimed at both genders, as anxiety is obviously something that anyone can suffer from.

Also, some parts of the book are slightly repetitive, which I found slightly frustrating, but I can see that Chloe is just trying to get her points across.

So, don’t let that put you off too much.

What’s my overall rating?

I’d give this book a 4/5; it’s made me feel a lot more positive over the past few days and reminded me that it’s OK to feel anxious, as long as I’m trying my best. Plus, the tips are incredibly practical, and there’s something for everyone.
